Customized Workshops

The Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center offers a variety of customized workshops on topics that can help you design, develop, and implement different teaching strategies. Workshops are tailored to your requirements and can be delivered to faculty at your college, department, or campus unit.

Educational research tells us that we learn most effectively when new information is presented within the framework of existing knowledge. Similarly, customized teaching and learning workshops allow groups of university scholars to focus on enriching pedagogical practices that help promote student learning at the University of Tennessee. Customized workshops are usually 75 to 90 minutes in length. University departments interested in developing longer workshops can select from 3-hour, 6-hour, or multiple-day sessions.

Examples of workshops presently offered include:

  • Redesigning my course content to increase student engagement
  • Teaching to millennials in larger sections
  • Employing motivational PowerPoint grounded in learning theory
  • Infusing interculturalism into my content
  • Applying theater techniques to teaching
  • Understanding student motivations and learning styles
