Consultations

The TENN TLC provides confidential consultation on teaching issues upon request to all instructors (faculty, lecturers, adjuncts, and GTAs).  Individual consultations are established with instructors wishing to improve their teaching abilities, redesign a course, and increase their students’ learning. The focus of individual consultation is to work together to fulfill the identified goals of each instructor.  Consultation is for the purpose of analysis and development and is strictly voluntary.  All records are confidential and copies are shared only with the instructor.  The instructor, however, is free to share information on the consultation to whomever he or she wishes.  The TENN TLC does not initiate consultation upon request of a dean or department chair.  Rather, an administrator may recommend the services of the center to that instructor.  The TENN TLC strives to maintain a highly professional relationship with all instructors; maintaining an ethical and respectful consultation procedure is central to our mission to support instructors at UT.

For an appointment, please email tenntlc@utk.edu or call 974-3932 (David Schumann), 974-3933 (Taimi Olsen), or Stan Guffey (974-3935).
